I always enjoy seeing my favorite singer-songwriter, Jay Brannan. This time I saw him at Maxwell's in Hoboken, Jay's second time being in NJ, first time headlining. Prospect Park Zoo!

So, michele, sabrina, and I ventured to the Prospect Park Zoo in search of the elusive Pallas' Cat.
This super-furry feline looks like a cross-breed between Garfield the cat and an Ewok. Although we did end up finding one, he was rather elusive and doing the typical "zoo cat" thing, hiding up in a corner. Kind of a let down for the Pallas' Cat venture, but the zoo itself did not let us down. For $7, we saw quite a healthy bunch of beasts that were, for the most part, active. The sea lions were def my favourite. Yay city zoos!

Couple of Dicks

So, Kevin Smith has been filming his newest film, "Couple of Dicks" in my neighborhood this past weekend. It stars Tracy Morgan and Bruce Willis, and also features Michelle Trachtenberg. Some late-night car race scenes were filmed in my hood in Greenpoint, as hoards of Polish people gathered in awe (big Hollywood productions don't make their way up to our neighborhood very often). Car chases and gunshots ensued. Will Kevin Smith get out of his rutt of mediocre to lifeless movies? We shall see. Watch for greenpoint!
